PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Light rail No 96 from Bourke St to Acland St
Tram No 16 from Swanston St to Carlisle St stopping outside the theatre.
Bus No 246 down Hoddle St and Punt Rd stopping outside the theatre.
Also buses from Chadstone, Brighton and Southland.
Trains leave from Balaclava station to the City.
Exceptionally good location for hailing cabs.

PARKING
On street parking is available. Please observe parking regulations.
Metered parking can be found around the Palais Theatre or Luna Park area.
There is a Wilson car park located 50 m down Barkly St above Coles Supermarket.
Two disabled car parks are located directly outside the National Theatre in Barkly St – with a modified footpath to accommodate wheelchairs. There is also a disabled car park located opposite the theatre in Carlisle St.

THE THEATRE
Auditorium Steeply raked. Good sightlines throughout, divided by gangway between eighth and ninth row at entrance level.
Front lounge - 264 armchairs. Rear lounge - 519 tip up seats.
Total capacity 783 patrons.
The National Theatre reserves the right to refuse any application or request from any person or group to hire the theatre.

FOYERS
Main entrance - corner position, 1600 sq ft with Box office, candy bar and toilets. There are no cloakroom facilities.
Marble staircase leads to Mezzanine Foyer 1100 sq ft with access to the theatre; one large enclosed merchandising area or display area or closed off work area. Twin stairs lead to upper foyer of 1300 sq ft with licensed bar and toilets.
Twin stairs lead to the auditorium.
Disabled access to the theatre is available via a vertical lift located in the lower foyer (just past the ladies toilets) to the mezzanine level foyer. There are two stair climbers available to take either a wheelchair or mobility impaired patrons up to the auditorium or bar areas.
A hearing loop is available to be turned on if prior warning received by the theatre management. Either a headphone or neck loop is available from the box office upon request.

DISABLED ACCESS
Disabled access to the theatre is available via a vertical lift located in the lower foyer (just past the ladies toilets) to the mezzanine level foyer. There are two stair climbers available to take either a standard wheelchair or mobility impaired patrons up to the auditorium or bar areas.
The stair climbers have a maximum load of 225 kgs and are designed for standard (non-motorised) wheelchairs.  Their base dimensions are 77 cm (wide) by 100 cm (long). Equipment outside these limits cannot be safely accommodated. Patrons are requested to contact the box office directly on 95254611 to discuss their needs and requirements prior to booking.

All bookings requiring the wheelchair locations in the auditorium must be made through the box office and are not available on-line.
